There will be some slight relief for the wheat costs in the Southern African country of Mozambique. Last week prices went sky-high due to the decrease in yearly yields of wheat and other grains. Rioting broke out in which over 400 people were arrested and left 13 people dead. The country’s planning minister said that they would reverse the previously stated “irreversible” prices of wheat in exchange for some subsidies such as water and electricity.

According to Reuters, it brought the cost of a bread roll to 20 cents (USD), where the average worker makes around $37 (USD) a month. This loss of some subsidies may help the extended famine in this year’s grain harvest.
