Earlier today, two people were killed in “violent” protests in Kashmir. In less than two months, this brings the body count to twenty-three people, most of whom are teenagers.
What should be stated is that Kashmir and neighboring, Jammu, are the last two providences of the former British Indian Empire, aka, British East India Company colony to make a decision to who they join, India or Pakistan. I should also mention that both providences desire to be independent of either country but have been told by the United Nation as well as the U.S. that they have to pick one or the other. Literally, there have been two to three civil wars fought over this area, the last being around three to four years ago. Even without a war, conflicts and protests have been taking place, many of which escalate the tension in the area.
Sadly neither side will back down from taking this territory into their country and Kashmir will not give-up their right be independent.
